"Just a thought" - by Debapriyo

Foreword:

To start with, let me tell you, this is just an expression of some wild ideas I had yesterday.

Don’t tell me stuff I already know, like “it’s crazy” or “it’s dumb”. My logic goes like this- We always talk about ghosts as supernatural beings formed after our death. But it defies me what reasons these entities might have to harm us.

Why can’t there be other invisible, supernatural species altogether, which has no connection to humans at all? Maybe there are, and maybe ‘our’ ghosts protect us from them in some undefined way. And maybe we keep saying we’re scared of our protectors.

Few days ago, on Halloween, we were on the C-1 terrace with night vision cameras and all, trying to make a ghost movie. We found an empty bed and few bundles under the rooftop tank. Somehow, I decided to write this cracked story on the same setting.

*************

“Eew! Don’t tell me we’ll sleep here!” Katie said, making a horrible face at my precious makeshift bedroom. Well, it didn’t actually qualify for a bedroom. Just a folding bed tucked under the water tank of a terrace, with clothes bundled together to serve as pillows

“Yup, this is it.” I sighed.
We had gathered after almost a year. With the ever increasing study-load, we didn’t get leaves at all. So we decided to make the most out of the Halloween holiday. Obviously, I wouldn't have been allowed to let her stay over at my place due to strict parents, and her place was full with relatives as usual. We had no choice but to come here, which had been my childhood hideout.

“This place is scary!” She said, looking shocked.

“Uff, I’m there with you toh.”
“Aren’t YOU scared?”

“I didn’t have the liberty to be scared away from a creepy place and have you at the same time. So I picked the latter.” I smiled.

At this, she burst out laughing and gave me a quick kiss.

“You’re so irresistible at times” She said, putting on a sexy pout. We entered the dark place, stooping uncomfortably to save our heads from the low ceiling. But once we got into bed and started chatting, we were quite easy. Katie had this amazing ability of keeping any conversation lively and interesting, irrespective of the topic. We talked for hours. Then, just when she was about to start all the good stuff, the entire place lit up suddenly.

“What the….!” Katie jumped up, and ended up banging her head against the ceiling. It was a group of teens with flashlights and handycams!

“Don’t you think it’s strange that there’s a bed here?” one of them asked the other.
“Yeah” the other replied.

They kept swinging the flashlights from side to side, exploring the place. I saw Katie’s bewildered expression turn into that cute devilish grin, which I was so crazy about.

“Well, well, well! You never said living humans wander willingly right into your hideout!” I could see her canines glowing in the light, and her eyes lighting up in excitement.

“This is the first time I’m seeing them here. Anyway, you know we can’t eat them, honey” I said gravely.

“Why not?!” she looked at me incredulously, as if I had gone mad.

“Don’t you even read the newspapers? There’s so much hype over this particular article.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You must’ve heard that we’re slowly losing our grip on the war against ghosts. A group of scientists working on humans proved yesterday that new ghosts aren’t born from darkness, as was previously believed, but when humans are killed. The government says we can’t afford to deal with more of those horrible creatures. So killing humans for sport or consumption has been permanently banned.”
“You must be shitting me!” she looked on in disbelief.

“No dear. We had been actually ‘creating’ the enemy all along.”

“There’s nothing interesting here guys. Let’s check the other side of the terrace” one teen from the group concluded. With this they left, leaving us in darkness.

"What drives us......" - by Nitish

"Which is the most resilient parasite of all????? A bacteria???A virus??? Nope...... An idea... Highly resilient and contagious...... Once it enters our body, i.e. sticks in our brain, it becomes highly difficult or even impossible to eradicate afterwards...... It drives people....."
I came across these words in a recent movie and realized that even we were, and are, driven by ideas. There have been many occasions when we thought about doing something or had an idea to do something, and we did it. I don't know about the others, but it never came to my mind why actually we did it. The tasks we did weren't wrong, but tasks which some may call "a waste of time". Only thing which was in our mind while doing them was:
"It doesn't matter whether people like what we do or not, the only thing that matters is whether we are enjoying ourselves"
Even now we do thinks just because we came up with an idea to do it or got the idea from someone.....

People say that somethings never change.
In our case, it is true.......

"Miss Perfect" - by Debapriyo

I have been working on the sketch of the perfect lady for quite a while now, carefully adding characteristics and qualities of my choice.

Result?

A superwoman. @_@

Yup, that’s right. Unfortunately, all the girls of this planet are non-super. What to do? T_T

Ok, here’s an idea. Ditch the pencil and take up an eraser. Instead of putting in things I want in her, let’s just erase things which I DON’T want (less in number, thus reducing my work) from the universal set of traits. Miss X will be perfect as long as she can fit herself in the remaining space.

You’re a suitable candidate (applicable for female readers) to be my Miss Perfect provided that you’re NOT :-
  • Overly sentimental. I know this condition rules out 90% ladies from my list. Not my fault if I can’t tolerate fuss and tears about each and every insignificant thing. That doesn’t mean you’ll have to be devoid of all emotion. This point covers the fact that you must not be short tempered.
  • Superstitious. Well, superstitions to the level of having faith in God are ok. But if you say stuff like “My astrologer says you’ll have to do this to be suitable for me”, then I’m definitely not suitable for you. (sarcasm intended)
  • Possessive. Look, here’s the deal. Trust me and I won’t betray you. Keep an eye on me, and you’ll find a handful of dust in it. ^_^
  • Too attitudinal. I admit that a little attitude does attract me, but not if you overdo it. You don’t want me to get the idea that I’m the only one interested.
  • Immature. Sorry to say, you must be a grown up. (mentally) ;)
  • Excessively romantic. Romance is good, and very much essential in a relationship. Just make sure it’s not the ONLY thing in the lovestory. Remember, “True love is neither physical nor romantic; it’s not about surviving the storm, but about dancing in the rain”. < I don’t have a clue who wrote that shit. I mean to say that, to me, love is just the feel-good factor you get when you’re with ‘the one’.
Enough of lectures. Among the other conditions -- you must love me. No one-sided stuff from me. And last but not the least; I should like you from a holistic point of view (no pun intended). ~_~

That’s all. Auditions open for interested candidates till > my relationship status turns committed. O_O

* Terms and conditions are subject to change as per the discretion of the author.

"Solitary musings" - by Debapriyo

From my individual blog.

It’s a quarter after 12, and I can’t sleep tonight. I’ve been listening to a radio program which gave its concluding speech, promising to return next Sunday. So, I switch to some Coldplay music instead. It is barely audible above the clattering of rain against the window pane beside me.

A white sheet of paper is spread out on the table in front of me, under the lit table lamp. I’m sitting with heavy eyes and a pen in my hand. All ready to start writing.

The atmosphere of the room brings a pleasant chill. Mostly, it is engulfed in darkness, the faint lamp being the only source of light. The packing boxes and the huge pile of books throw enormous and awkward shadows behind them, creating obscure dimensions on the feebly pale walls. Frequently, dazzling flashes would submerge the room, killing all shades, followed by ear-splitting thunder, which would leave the glass panes trembling.

If you look outside the window, you see a prevailing reflection of the lamp along with your own dull face staring back at you through the watery mess. Beyond that, you see the smudged yellow rays of glowing streetlights. They scatter to new patterns of randomness with each strike of raindrops. You notice a delicate layer of mist on the inner side of the glass. You can scribble non-sense with your fingertips, and laugh at your own silliness as the results fade away. Laugh, by yourself.

I stare blankly at the paper in front of me. I have always felt a peculiar sentiment towards blank papers and canvases. No matter what marks I make on them, I can never match my own expectations. Sometimes, I prefer neat, vacant exercise copies to some of story books, dreaming of greater things that can be created on them…

This abnormality in me has led to a hobby of collecting unused diaries of passing years. What should have been written in them, are stacked up in MS Word documents instead. Often, dad would rebuke me for wasting such nice diaries. But I’ve never cared. There were times, few years back, when he would take a diary without my permission, and use it to scribble down notes for career exams. That would make me real mad. Later, I would collect the discarded, half-filled diaries, and cut away the used pages, like a doctor amputating an incurable leg of a patient. It all seems so childish now. I still collect empty diaries, but not with such devotion.

The screen of my silenced cell appears suddenly out of the darkness, amidst the pile of books. 1 message received. I have no wish to reply though, but it reminds me of the existence of people in the world. Assured by the fact that I’m not the lone sinner, I decide to waste the paper in the worst way possible. Sketching my haphazard mind.

And now, I have a blog post.

"DILEMMA In Our Mind"- by Arpan

IS THERE ANY SUCH THING KNOWN AS GOD? TO ME,THIS QUESTION WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO ANSWER. IT IS STILL A DIFFICULT QUESTION TO ANSWER. MOST PEOPLE BELIEVE IN THE EXISTENCE OF THIS "ALMIGHTY TERM" AND FEW DO NOT.
UMM.....TO BE HONEST, I WAS STUCK IN A POSITION WHICH WAS IN BETWEEN THE TWO GROUPS OF PEOPLE I JUST MENTIONED. I COULD NEVER MAKE UP MY MIND. THEN I REALISED THAT I NEVER COMPROMISED PRAYING TO THIS "TERM" WHEN I WAS IN NEED. SO FOR A MOMENT I COUNTED MYSELF IN THE FIRST CATEGORY. IT WAS QUITE CONVINCING .ALL SEEMED TO BE FINE TILL THE PRAYERS YIELDED THE RESULTS.IF THE RESULTS TURNED OUT TO BE BENEFICIAL,I CONSIDERED MYSELF STILL IN THE FIRST CATEGORY.

RESULTS NOT ONLY IMPLY SCHOOL RESULTS. IT CAN BE ANY THING -RANGING FROM LUST FOR PC GAMES TO LUST FOR GIRLFRIENDS.BUT WAIT................
I FOUND MYSELF STUCK AGAIN.YOU ARE WANDERING WHEN?
WHEN THE RESULTS TURNED OUT TO BE "NOT SO GOOD".YES.THIS TIME I COUNTED MYSELF IN THE SECOND CATEGORY.

WELL.....IT IS OUR CHOICE TO CHOOSE A CATEGORY. BUT WE CAN NEVER ESCAPE FROM OUR OWN MIND.IT IS WHAT YOU BELIEVE INSIDE.
I HOPE IT IS MUCH THE SAME FOR YOU....BUT FRIENDS DO DECIDE CAREFULLY BECAUSE IF THERE IS SOMETHING KNOWN AS "GOD", HE WILL PUNISH YOU.....
TILL NOW,THE RESULTS HAVE JUST BEEN FINE ENOUGH. SO I"M PRESENTLY IN THE FIRST CATEGORY.........WHICH GROUP ARE YOU IN?

DECIDE AND COMMENT. BELIEVE ME. YOU ARE QUITE FREE TO DO SO.

"Behind the scenes of Unreal reality" - by Arpan

It is Halloween and set off with Nitish and Debopriyo for the shooting of the starting part of the movie. We go to the same place where we had our experience and started to plan and, eventually, started to shoot. It was around 5:15PM when Nitish left for his home to do some work. So we continued without him.

When we had shot another few minutes of video, we played it to see whether it was good or bad.

Just when we started to see the video, there was a faint sound of footsteps. I heard it first and asked him whether he did too. He didn't. After a few seconds, the sound of footsteps was audible and suddenly we heard a light sound. We both heard it this time. We were extremely scared, and immediately we ran like we never ran before, went to Harsh's house. Unfortunately a camera was not at the right place at the right time.....
